Cultural theories
My works in this theme look at landscape ecology and the forms and underlying sociocultural processes of cultural landscape and heritage as a basis for decoding placemaking.
My current work aims to understand the creation and conservation of cultural landscapes and heritage and their benefits to human wellbeing. My previous studies have explored the living heritage of rice paddy fields, the soundscape of classic Chinese gardens, and the ecosystem services of feng shui forests in Hong Kong.
Further studies will continue to unfold the diversity of agricultural and industrial landscapes, with a special emphasis on tourism architecture and arts.
Cultural theories, notably theories of social space, social imaginary, practice theories, etc., provide primary theoretical frameworks for this area of my studies.
